French toasts





This recipe is about a sweet breakfast, and I am sure it is very famous, its simplicity and sweetness make it a very easy dish to enjoy since its ingredients and preparation are not something complex to make or get.


French toast was created in Europe, around the XIV century a German recipe book called it arme ritter (poor knight), a name used in English as "poor knight" and in Nordic languages. In several countries, the consumption of French toast can be daily, for example in the United States it is a common dish for breakfast, and every November 28th is celebrated the National French Toast Day.




Ingredients: 4-5 servings


  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • Brioche bread slices (8-10 approx)

  • Powdered sugar (optional)

  • Blueberries (optional)

  • Maple syrup (optional)


Preparation:

  1. In a bowl add the milk, eggs and vanilla, and beat until well incorporated.

  2. Add the sugar and cinnamon to the mixture, and whisk until dissolved.

  3. Prepare a skillet over low heat with butter or spray oil.

  4. Dip the slice of bread in the previously prepared mixture, make sure to coat each side of the toast and place it in the pan, let it cook for approximately 3 minutes total or until each side of the toast changes to a golden brown. Repeat this process with each piece.

  5. To serve, you can add sifted powdered sugar, blueberries and a little honey or maple syrup and enjoy.
